De kern van een Holbein potlood is gemaakt van een mix van pigmenten, wax, olie en vetten. Deze unieke samenstelling zorgt voor kleurpotloden met fijne eigenschappen. Een Holbein potlood is creamy, maar niet te zacht of hard. Qua hardheid zitten de potloden net tussen de Polychromos en Prisma potloden in. Het pigment in de potloden is prachtig én krachtig, zelfs in de zachtere pastelkleuren. Ze kleuren heerlijk op papier en blenden ook fijn. Je kunt een Holbein potlood ook gebruiken in combinatie met andere kleurpotloden.
