About the work
Richard Tuttle's limited edition The End, was produced by Whitechapel Gallery in collaboration with Tate Modern in 2014 to accompany his major Whitechapel Gallery exhibition, surveying five decades of his career and his concurrent 2014 large-scale sculptural commission in Tate Modern's Turbine Hall.

About the artist
Richard Tuttle is a highly influential US artist, who came to prominence in the 1960's and whose long career has had a profound impact on subsequent generations of artists. Since the late-60s he has worked in a wide range of media including print, drawing, sculpture and textiles and his work is known for its subtlety, its refusal to become narrowly defined and its engagement and play with scale. Tuttle has become an influential figure within twentieth century art movements such as Minimalism and Post minimalism. He is also well known as a producer of artist books which play with the book format and also text as sculptural properties.
Born in 1941, in Rahway, NJ, USA, Tuttle currently lives and works between Mount Desert, Maine; Abiquiu, New Mexico and New York, USA. He is represented by Stuart Shave Modern Art in London, Pace Gallery in New York, Galerie Schmela in Dusseldorf, Annemarie Verna Galerie in Zurich and has also worked with Marian Goodman, Paris.

A selection of Solo Shows include Richard Tuttle: Wire Pieces, CAPC Musee d'art contemporain, Bordeaux, France (2005); between 2005 and 2007 The Art of Richard Tuttle toured extensively, including San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, USA; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, USA; Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX, USA; Museum of Contemporary Art as well as Chicago, IL, USA; other solo shows include Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2007); Richard Tuttle: Triumphs, Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane, Ireland,(2010) and Hello, the Roses, Kunstverein Munchen (2012) in collaboration with poet Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge.
