Introducing the ‘Grin and Tonic’™ Bigleaf Hydrangea – a stunning compact hydrangea that packs a punch in nearly any garden or container. With its breathtaking beauty and enchanting flowers, this exceptional hydrangea variety is a true delight for nature enthusiasts and garden lovers alike. ‘Grin and Tonic’™ boasts large, green lush blooms that turn white and mesmerize. These captivating flowers elegantly cluster together, with each petal showcasing a unique gradient, from deep saturated hues to soft pastels. What makes ‘Grin and Tonic’™ stand out from other hydrangea varieties?
- An array of color-changing blossoms based on soil pH.
- Reblooms throughout the spring and summer.
Name: Hydrangea macrophylla 'Grin and Tonic' pp#27,035, cbr#5283, commonly known as French hydrangea.
Hardiness: Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 5-9.
Height x Width: Compact growth reaching 2-3 feet in height and width.
Light: Thrives in full to partial sun.
Soil: Prefers evenly moist, well-drained soil. It is recommended to apply a 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch throughout the year.
Pruning: Blooms on new wood. Avoid excessive trimming or cutting back, but feel free to remove any dead wood during early spring.
Water: Requires average to high water levels. While it cannot tolerate waterlogged conditions, it is prone to drought stress and should be regularly watered. Plants exposed to full sun and warmer climates will have higher water needs than those in shaded or cooler areas.
Fertilizer: Consider using a rose fertilizer once in early spring if desired.
Bloom Time: Expect blossoms from midsummer through fall.
Bloom Color: The flower color is pH-dependent. Although the name suggests blue, it can easily exhibit blue hues in acidic soil containing aluminum. In alkaline or low-aluminum soil conditions, the blooms will showcase a beautiful pink color.
Uses: A timeless choice for gardens and landscaping projects, ‘Grin and Tonic’™ are also suitable for low hedges and containers, adding elegance to any space.

A fun, comic style book
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
My fourth grader really enjoyed this book and asked if it was a part of a series. We didn't sit down and read it in one setting and usually when that happens we forget to come back and finish a book..... But she didn't forget about this one. Will probably reread it in the future too.
The pages are nice quality and the colors are bright. The print is a little bit on the teeny side; But that's pretty typical in comic style print. We were really happy with it!
I think a kid as young as second or third grade could also enjoy this book if they are reading skills are a little on the stronger side. I've sat with 5th graders who would read it this level too.

Fun read
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Kids had fun reading this book. My 7 year old thought it was lot of fun. My 11 year old thought the story had few holes where people and events were happening without any explanation. But overall, both had fun reading it. The book is made really well - it's beautifully illustrated and printed well. The behind-the-scene look at the how the characters were drawn was really neat as well.
