About the work

This limited edition was created for the Whitechapel Gallery in response to the Karl Blossfeldt exhibition held here in spring of 2013. It is an image from an on-going project started in 2011 with the working title: The Fertile Forest , in which Hannah Collins photographs Amazonian plants used to treat different parts of the human body and through detailed field research with tribes in the Amazon basin creates a kind of corporeal mapping of the corresponding plants of the forest, bringing to our attention the fact that, as well as serving as the lungs of the world, the Amazon basin is our global pharmacy.

Karl Blossfeldt (1865- 1932) is renowned for photographic plant portraits and a fusion of scientific observation, sculptural form and surreal composition that pioneered an artistic style and forged new approaches to modern art and photography.

Super EASY for my 83 old mother with arthritis to use. It’s not “speedy” but it works great.

Worked great for the 4 months it lasted
Color: Green/Battery
I liked this can opener a lot when I first got it. It was easy to use, and it left smooth edges after opening the can. I also liked the fact the batteries were replaceable. However, after 4 months it stopped opening the cans. It just went around and around the edges. I tried replacing the batteries but it did not help. I plan to replace it with a different brand.
